Affiliated with The Missionary Church, Inc., Fellowship Missionary Church began 26 years ago. Pastor Dave DeSelm was a staff member at First Missionary Church here in Fort Wayne, and the leadership there approached him about pastoring a church they were hoping to plant on the Southeast side. After much prayer, and confirmation from the Young Couples Sunday school class they were leading, Dave & Gwen agreed to “give it a try”. We held our first services at the Southeast YMCA in 1980 and soon the first phase of the current building was under way. In October of 1982, we held our first gathering in our new building.
The church has grown in many ways over the years, and with growth comes change. We've become a multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-generational community with100+ small groups and Bible studies, average Sunday morning attendance of 2200, and 5 different building projects. However, some things will never change: to this day, Fellowship maintains its passion for solid, biblical teaching, creating moments of personal and corporate worship, and reaching out to a community, a city, and a world in need of the kind of restoration only Christ can offer.
